What does an organizing session look like?
Great question! If it’s your very first session, we will spend some time developing your goals for our work together, and then get to work. Talking about your goals, and developing a vision of your ideal lifestyle, is a key part of the KonMari Method™. We want you to be able to see the finish line before you start—and figuring out what you want your home to be when you’re finished is the way to do that.
The KonMari Method™ is different than most decluttering methods because we do not organize by room, but rather by category. Organizing this way allows us to truly know how many things you have, and allows you to be able to make decisions about what you want to keep in your home. The categories are:
Clothing
Books
Papers
Komono (Japanese for miscellany)
Sentimental
When it’s time for us to have a session together, we work through items in whichever category you are in at that time. I help you determine which of the items you want to keep in your home—that’s where the famous “spark joy” feeling comes in!—and which items you are ready to gratefully donate or discard. After you get done deciding what you keep in your home, we work together to thoughtfully reorganize your spaces—which will allow you to be able to find what you have, quickly and easily.
I will walk you through every category and be with you to support you as much as you need. I am there to be your support system to help you through the entire process so you achieve your vision for your home. This truly is life-changing magic, and I can’t wait to help you!
*SR will take away 1 carload of donations to a local charity!
*As your accountability partner, SR will follow-up with you weekly to check on your progress and your goals.
